When you take your first bite of a dish at Tandoor Fine Indian Cuisine, you’re not just tasting food—you’re experiencing centuries of tradition and a symphony of spices that bring each dish to life. Indian cuisine is globally celebrated for its bold, layered flavors, and at the heart of it all are the spices.
Let’s explore the spices that make our food unforgettable and the roles they play in taste, aroma, and even health.
1. Cumin (Jeera): Warm and earthy, cumin is often toasted to release its nutty aroma. It forms the base of many Indian dishes, including our Dal Veg Soup, where its subtle smokiness enhances the flavor of slow-cooked lentils.
2. Turmeric (Haldi): With its vibrant golden color and anti-inflammatory benefits, turmeric adds warmth and depth to curries and rice dishes. You’ll taste its mellow earthiness in dishes like our Vegetable Biryani, where it's blended with other Indian spices to create layers of flavor.
3. Garam Masala: This fragrant spice mix combines cardamom, cloves, and more. We use it to finish dishes like our Chicken Tikka Masala, where roasted chicken simmers in a rich tomato-cream sauce with bell peppers, onions, and just the right touch of spice. We also make our own in house!
4. Cardamom (Elaichi): Both floral and sweet, cardamom is a staple in Indian kitchens. It’s featured in our Moglai Korma, a creamy North Indian dish made with cashews, and aromatic spices for a delicate yet luxurious flavor.
More Than Just Flavor
At Tandoor, spices aren’t just for heat—they’re used to create balance, aroma, and even health benefits. Many of our spices aid digestion, reduce inflammation and boost immunity. Whether you prefer mild or bold flavors, our dishes can be tailored to your comfort level—just ask!
